Studies show that implicit bias can involuntarily impact how we make decisions. This can be especially problematic when those decisions concern hiring, counseling, and investigating employees as those types of decisions may, and often do, give rise to workplace discrimination and retaliation claims. In the presentation "Minimizing Implicit Bias in Workplace Decisions" attorney Ashley Gallagher will discuss best practices that businesses can implement in order to minimize the impact of implicit bias in workplace decisions while also proactively deterring and defending against potential discrimination and retaliation claims. 
 
About the Featured Speaker:
Ashley Gallagher is a senior associate at Johnson Jackson PLLC in Tampa, Florida. Ashley practices management-side labor and employment law and has experience in defending claims of discrimination and retaliation in addition to claims of wage and hour violations under both state and federal laws and in both the private and public sectors.  Ashley is also actively involved in several volunteer organizations, currently serving as the Secretary of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, as an Eleventh Circuit Representative on the Federal Bar Association Younger Lawyer Division Board of Directors, and as an active member of the Junior League of Tampa. Ashley received her undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina and law degree from Florida State University College of Law.
